No, the model L did not have an exhaust filter.  They existed for the XXX, LX, and E.  After the E, it was dropped.  Someone told me that the E didn't have a filter.  However, when I acquired my Model E, there was a filter installed (though it may not have been a genuine Electrolux part).

Model E Post Bag Filter

I have a very early E and it has the filter installed.

But if you check out this guy's page he says that it was recommended that it be removed after newer bags were invented as the filter was no longer needed and actually restricted airflow and caused other issues....
