I have a very clean early version of the Electrolux E canister.

It runs but the suction was iffy.

I took it apart carefully and noticed the motor/fan assembly was kind of cocked or tilted in relation to the outer canister.

I removed the assembly and I noticed one of the three motor mounts is kind of "Broken" in that it has become a little detached and I think this lets the rubber "skirt" around the motor lose it's seal against the motor itself, possibly making the vacuum not work properly.

My question is this, are the motor mounts still available? or can I simply clean the 2 surfaces on this broken one and use something like JB weld or epoxy to fasten it back together?

Or, is there someone on this list/group that would like to contact me off list and give me a price for going over the motor/fan completely?

I am open to suggestions, but I would like go get this old beauty back in action.

Thanks

Best solution.....

of course would be NOS mounts. I'm not sure making a rigid joint with epoxy is the way to go. Maybe you could fab up your own mounts if you study how they are made...providing you can't find  the OE mounts after all this time. You should also examine the motor bearings, brushes and stator grooves. Yes, these motors have to seal properly to create the proper suction effect.
