I have a chance to get an Electrolux for a reasonable price, I just had time to glance at it, but it appeared to be a model AE with the powernozzle plug added. It is behind the pile in the graveyard at the shop, but I wanted to check some things with you guys first.

How is the suction on these beasts? A family member once had a Golden Jubilee with pitiful suction, and a friend had a Silverado (I think, can't remember for sure if that was the correct one), again with rather sad suction. How does the Model AE compare to my Compact C-8 suction wise?

What is the correct hose for this one? We have dozens of Electrolux hoses in the back, and I would like to use the correct one if we have one that isn't shot.

Which of the powernozzles should I get? We have 2 that I can grab for this machine, the gray all plastic with plastic wand, and the cream all plastic with plastic wand.

Last, why are Electrolux powernozzles so blasted noisy? The Compact has a nice steady rumble, the Rainbow has a good loud hum, but all the Electrolux nozzles I have ever heard always seem very loud, with a sort of screechy note...

Lux AF

I just finished restoring one by combining parts from mnay.

It has GREAT suction and is so quiet.  It's AWESOME (the Compact comes next in quiet and suction - LOL!)

Mine has the PN plug as well.  I have a relatively new genuine Lux power hose for it and a new plain suction hose. Have a variety of PNs to choose from from PN2 - the latest.  I like the later ones myself.  You are right about the noise.  It can be annoying.  Don't use a PN often with this one.

I think you'd be satisfied with the AF.
