This weekend Kyle and I are having our yearly get to together and it is going great! We had some amazing luck today. We went to a flea market and did a whole bunch of thrifting this morning, and this is what we have got so far.

Here is some of what I've gotten so far. I got the Dyson from a vacuum store for $20. It was only clogged and it works really well. The gray Oreck came from Goodwill for $7.50. It was in sad condition but turned out like brand new! The red Oreck came from the flea market. We saw the handle and decided to take a look and the guy said he was looking to get rid of everything for cheap. So we tried it out and offered him $20 and he quickly accepted! This would probably have to be my favorite Oreck, I just love the red! It is also in like new condition! The Sanitaire came from another Goodwill for $3.75. It was in extremely bad condition but turned out really nice! I'll probably end up using that quite a bit. I also got the Kenmore from another Goodwill for $10. It works great, just needs a good cleaning!

Oh..my turn? Okay..

Well so far it has indeed been a great time! We have gotten some great vacuums. At the Flea Market that Chase and i drove to there is a guy there that has a mini vac shop set up where he sells tons of refurbished machines. He knows us by name now, so he usually gives us good deals. There is always something to be had there. This year i luckily found a very very nice Dirt Devil MVP. I don't have a really good working one, so that was a treat! It is hard to find these in nice, usable condition. The other machine i bought from him is a Dirt Devil Swivel Glide. I thought it looked cool. It pushes nicely and is as aggressive as all heck, so i think that might end up as my new daily driver when i return home. It too is like brand new! I got these for $20 a pop.

This Hoover.

I was not going to buy it because it looked like it was only the canister and the hose, but Chase looked closer and there was a bag containing a power nozzle, bags, owners manual, and all the attachments. I do not believe the power nozzle was used much, if ever! I will post a picture of the brushroll and bottom because it is literally like new! I ended up getting this for $5. Great deal, just needs to be cleaned up.

Yup

It was in the junk pile, and they didn't even know they had a perfectly working Dyson.
They called the trade in pile "The Wall of Shame Vacuums"

Terrific finds. What kind of flea markets do you have over there? The only flea markets I see are mostly weavings, some shirts with the a press, and pottery. I would love a vacuum flea market!

They are normal flea markets with everyday people selling everyday stuff. I've never been to one that's not like that.

Here is the power nozzle, the entire vacuum is like new. Very seldom used.

I picked up a Hoover Celebrity (QS) a while back, in the same condition as that Hoover, everything but the floor brush and its 2 wands was is 2 shopping bags: the hose, dusting brush, upholstery tool, crevice tool, power nozzle and 2 chrome wands. It cleaned up like new as well.

More Flea Market Stuff...

vacman117's profile picture
Today we went to another local flea market and got some pretty nice things. Firstly, a very nice Kenmore Twin Fan Self Propelled. It's pretty dry, but all in out it sounds really good. It still has an original sticker on the bag as well.

This is a bad picture so I will post a better on later, but this was just way to nice to leave behind. I don't think this was ever even used honestly. It had no smells, no rips in the cord or bag, and absolutely nothing wrapped around the brushroll. I have been wanting a Halo ever since they first came out, and we got this one for only $60. I was happy it was the Oreck model because I like the blue trim. It surprisingly had all of the attachments, as well as a brand new HEPA bag. I thought it was also neat how it has a height adjustment on the side. It's a pretty decent vacuum, I might sell it though.

Now this was the find of the day I think, as well as what Kyle will post in a while. There is a guy at the flea market that always has NIB Sears products. I have never bought anything from him, but have always eyed what he has had at his tent. This time, I decided to go ahead and get this brand new in the box Kenmore canister for $85. It was completely sealed and had never been used. These sold brand new at Sears just a few weeks ago for $199! This is a really great vacuum. It is very compact and has a nice, long hose. The power nozzle is also very aggressive.

Sears Guy at the Flea Market

..I too bought something from the guy. I assume he can sell these products so cheaply because he buys everything in bulk and buys in closeout or wholesale prices. Anywho, i bought this Kenmore Intuition Bagless Multicyclonic upright. I like it a lot, and have never had a vacuum that gets out so much grit. This thing has tons of suction and the direct drive is a lot of fun. Overall, Brand new for $85 on a $399 machine wasn't bad. I am quite happy. I was using a DC17 as my daily driver for the longest time because it was simple to use, and i didn't have to empty a bag. I ended up giving that to Chase late last year, so i have been without a very decent bagless machine for sometime (Not using a DC07!) so this will pick up where the DC17 left off as my daily machine. Should be great.

Wow

You guys had some great finds! And some good deals! You both are lucky that you have basements to store all that!

I really like those direct drive machines.

Wish thrifting was that good here!

Nice Kenmore 29319 teal canister. I like that CT18DX over the CT14DX as on the other canister. Both nice units though. The Hoover Spirit is in amazing condition. How is the suction on the Hoover Spirit? I've tried a couple of those that didn't have much suction, but my feeling is that your model with a deluxe Quadraflex Powermatic would have good suction.

Hey Kyle(my vacs rock), what do you think of the fantom technologies vacuums? I saw you once had a thunder and lightning, have you ever came across others? I love fantoms, I think they were the best bagless machines ever made. What do you think of them?

Post# 192262 , Reply# 23   7/30/2012 at 12:19 (4,286 days old) by myvacsrock (USA)

Yes, i did have a Thunder and a Lightning at one time, both of them are now sold and gone. I can't say that i miss them too much. They were the best for their time, no doubt. However, i have to say the Dyson is the best (In MY opinion) BAGLESS, and i stress the BAGLESS to save my ass from this forum because i know people get mad about that kind of talk.
I've owned a DC07, which is not the best whatsoever, but it had a lot of potential. Then after that i owned a DC17 which, at the time, i thought was the best bagless vacuum on the market. It was aggressive, simple, and i had never seen a bagless vacuum pull so much dirt from anyones carpet. However, this weekend i acquired a DC28 AirMuscle Machine and it is awesome! Yes, the AirMuscle i can already tell is going to be causing me some issues in the future, but, now that it is still new and i can enjoy it, i love it! It is aggressive as all get out, and it pulls itself on just about every surface. It is great!

Again, that was all just my opinion.
Hope this helped,
Kyle

Today we also found some more, and we weren't really even looking. There was a Craigslist ad for a garage sale today that would have four vacuums, so we went to that and came home with three of them. The one we didn't get was a complete Tradition, along with the box. The guy actually said he was going to trade it into our local vac shop for a new Riccar, so I will probably end up with it soon. So, we got this extremely nice Windtunnel Supreme for $5. It's in amazing shape, and I have wanted the green model ever since they came out. I would always love going to Kohls to look at them. I believe it sold for around $179.

We also got this Eureka ESP two speed for $5. We gave this to Davis because he has wanted one for a really long time, and he has the matching canister.

I forgot to mention that they just gave us a Hoover Runabout Elite, that was the third vacuum. It's dead, so we are just going to throw it away. Davis came over and he brought two of his newest vacuums. A brand new Hoover Conquest which he paid $225 for, and the new Eureka Airspeed Zuum, which is actually a really neat vacuum.

We got this amazing World Vac Mega Boss today. I had one of these when I was little so this brought back tons of memories. This one is in fantastic condition and I really like it. These are really neat vacuums, and this one is actually decently quiet!

A quiet World Vac, definitely has a different motor than the 12AMP Bravo II Powerline Boss that I had. I'll have to try one of the older style series similar to those World Vacs. Consumer Reports rated those well too.

How do you like your LG Kompresor?

The Kompressor is one of the best bagless uprights that I have ever used. It has so many neat features and deep cleans like crazy. The suction on it is unbelievable. If you have a big house with lots of carpet I strongly recommend it.

my new Sebo X5. Kyle was most generous to give me this perfect machine. It is in fantastic condition and works great! I really like these! He also gave me the $100 tool kit which includes an extension hose, extra wand, and floor tool. As well as the manual and several bags. I'm very excited about this cleaner and it will probably be my new daily driver for a long time!

The thunder can clean better than the dc07 but I cant say anything about the other Dyson's because ive o ly used the dc07. I Think the Dyson dc07 is a little over engineered. Did you ever want one of the original FANTOMs? They are rare and quite hard to come by now. I tried getting an ebay one. He said he would sell it to me for 90$ if it didn't sell but someone bought it last night on the auction for 115$ which is more than I would offer as much as I wanted it.
