I brought this vacuum home today from a sale - in very nice shape for it's age. The book is dated 1979 - but it definitely has an 80's look with the almond and brown. The chrome is very bright and really makes it sparkle. I used it on the wood floors and rugs upstairs tonight and other than needing a new belt on the power nozzle, pre-motor filter and the foam filter at the bottom (which disintegrated and blew out of the base in a big puff of black dust - it was kind of comical really) it runs very well. I'm amazed at the suction power, and when combined with the awesome power nozzle - it really is an exceptional cleaner, as if we'd expect less from Hoover. I didn't really notice how heavy this thing was until I schlepped it a block to my car - built like a brick house! There are a couple of things I don't care for, the hose doesn't have a very good grip on it and it's not exactly the "silent servant" of the household, but it is purrdy with the chrome! |

Ah yeah, my Constellation has a crumbling muffler sponge, it's practically disintegrated. |

The "muff-sponge" was pretty funny, I was using in my bedroom and I kept seeing these little black puffs of stuff on the floor and chasing then with the hose - then there was another - and another. I kept thinking "where the hell is this coming from?" and then in one moment - almost the entire remains of the sponge poofed out at once, creating a cloud of black dust. Nice. I took it apart to make sure it was all gone and we wouldn't be spraying more throughout the house.

Crumbling muffler sponge sounds like a rock group. My late friend Russ got a phone call one afternoon, a woman asked to speak to his wife. Russ said "she's not home she's on a date." The woman proceeded to tell Russ all of the advantages of the contraceptive sponge. After she was done, he said "let me ask you a question." "What's that?" asked she. "Does it do windows?" She hung up. Here's a pic of my favourite vac to keep this thread on topic! |
