Hello delightful people. My kirby heritage II makes a terrible rattling noise from the head when i lower the micromatic down 5 notches and makes proper contact with the rug or carpet. I have adjusted a new ball bearing brush roll to about 1/4 below the rug plate, installed a new rug plate gasket and the knurled belt is tight.
It makes a terrible rattling noise on rugs/ccarpets when i lower the micromatic down 5 notches to contact the rug. Could it be the screws that adjust the brush roller? Or something where the brush roller fits in the slots????
Thanks much, don

I am having the same problem as well. As soon as the nozzle is properly adjusted to the carpet, it starts rattling. If anyone could help out with this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Daniel :-)

The rattling you hear may be due to the openings in the brackets that hold the brush roll in the rug guard are open to far. You need to take a pair of pliers and close up the openings from the side. The ends of the roller should just slide into those bracket openings. also make sure the top of the bracket is bent down far enough to make good contact with the end of the adjustment screws on each end. The top of the bracket should be "level" or just slightly bent down past "level"

Catch the pliers on the wings that protrude towards the "inside" of the brackets. and gently squeeze them together. it may take several attempts to get them adjusted just right. That should quiet down the chatter you hear. also make sure the brush tufts don't extend more that a 1/32 of an inch past the rug guard. that is approximately the thickness of a wooden student ruler or half the thickness of a pack of checks.

Comes to the Rescue!

Woops, Time to Check the Bag!!!
