It's a fun little item. Vacuumfreeke has one, and he enjoys it.

love my 2 twin boys![]() hey there,
While you have more practical experience than I do (or will have more very soon, owning three of those), I can only add that it never occured to me that they came to the shelves in two different versions: The bag pattern is different and some versions have a 1-row roller brush, while the other has a 2-row brush. Other than that they are the same (in America there must have been a blue version of it, but it never made it to Europe.) I love that little bugger to pieces (using it for a quick make-over or when I am not in the mood for dragging around bulky units.) Loud as hell like saying: "hey I am a MEAN little machine!" and it loves eating shoestrings lying around in the hallway (as you may know yourself). ;-) A never-give-away favourite of mine.

The UK model had an adjustable handle with different carpet types written next to each handle setting. I was never able to understand how the handle height affected carpet pile. Can anyone explain?

Hello. Do you happen to know why they had carpet types written against each setting of the handle? Because I could never see how it made any difference to the wheels.

![]() Well, to answer your question on whether they were popular in the UK, you could have read what I posted on that thread. Clearly you haven't picked up on it:
Dirt Devil U.S products didn't hang around for very long. The only appliance that stayed put was the hand held version/mains corded. All other upright products from the proper U.S company left as quickly as they came. Therefore their models like the Eclipse and Broomy are very rare. Another one that is rare is the "Room Mate," a kind of sweeper, but mains powered with a cassette located in the front floor head a bit like Miele's D'Art but without a paper bag.
Sadly ALBA PLC paid the end to Dirt Devil U.S products replacing the products that went before with Chinese made tat. This, sadly included the Chinese built Hoover Turbopower 2/3 based DD 6102 series.

Thanks for clarifying the position about the carpet height settings on the adjustable handle. This helped answer a very old puzzle!

![]() I do have one and I like it... it is loud and not the most powerful thing in the world, but it is surprisingly powerful for what it is. I think it is cute. I found 2 bags for it at a thrift shop for 99 cents.... I already had two packages, but I figured I couldn't go wrong for that price.... Hope you continue to enjoy yours!

to tell you the truth.....![]() the pro was sold through vac shops, and were suppose to be a little better made then the red version that was sold in department stores. but in the Broom vac i see no difference then the color. but i was told that the Pro Series Can Vac did have one difference. mine has the Powerhead plug, i was told that the Pro series PN had metal wands instead of plastic wands....

New Pro Series... Seems to consist of the corded version of the Hoover Linx Stick vac, the same Dirt Devil Classic handheld bagless in blue, and the relabeled windtunnel with dirtfinder or as Royal calls it "cleanseeker". I am currently torn between buying the handheld, or the corded stick vac. On eBay both models are sold half msrp N.I.B. CLICK HERE TO GO TO dwhdarren97's LINK

![]() Well today I had a friend over for tea and she is emigrating to the U.S She isn't taking anything with her, household appliance wise and has already passed her Dyson DC16 over to her mother who likes it. Anyway, she gave me a virtually new Dirt Devil (not the same as the U.S sadly) "Handy Cyclonic" mains corded hand vac. Having just used it, it is actually ok despite being Chinese made and typically with the motor under the handle, the main handle gets hot in just a couple of minutes.
However, what I do like about it is that the stretch hose out the back cuts the brush roll as soon as the hose is taken out. It also has a single roller wheel underneath that makes it easy to go along carpets or stairs. What a pity though that it doesn't have an extendable handle - this would make an excellent little "Junior," upright - it has an 8 metre length cord and a built in push out upholstery brush. Shame it doesn't have any other tools but I'm sure I can resolve that with spares.
