Hoover 417

It is identical to the first model Hoover 417 (1953-1956) which was somewhat different to the later models. The body on the 417 was grey not yellow but it could have been repainted during its life. The main thing to indicate that it was not branded Hoover is that neither the carpet nozzle nor the upholstry nozzle carry the familiar Hoover logo, which they did on the 417. Not so easy to see but it looks like there is no logo moulded into the floor of dusting nozzles.

Looking at the instruction sheet it appears that there is a Philips logo where the Hoover would be. It is strange that hoover would not sell these under their own name in the Netherlands as I have documentary evidence that they were selling washing machines there in this period.

This is certainly a rarity, hope someone can snap it up

Al
