Been seeing lots of hoover decade 80's and 800's lately, and from utube they seem to be very good machines. Are they simple to work on and is there any common problems with them.

Decade 80 These were a good Hoover with classic Convertible style and performance.Possible problems are crack at rear corner of plastic base and noisy from plastic bottom plate. Also used plastic ends on agitator.Older Hoovers can be described using the word metal!

They are great.![]() Yes, they were 'cheapened down', (cost reduction). And, the plastic 'plate' didn't help. They went on a lot of later convertibles. They have great suction, nice front load attachments, large top fill bag, 2 bright lights (ONE always burned out), slot on the bag for a 'scent tab'. Decade 80 morphed into Decade 800 (after the turn of the decade). Like all of the others,IF used responsibly and serviced, they'll endure. Best of luck with yours. If you don't have one yet, put it on your list.

Hoover decade 80 I just gave mine to my daughter for her first place. She thought it looked old fashioned. I told her it is better then anything on the shelf today. It is the green one with the striped bag. Works great! Chan
