I have some questions about restoring a classic III I have. Should it be hard to remove the cloth bag? I have trouble doing this, and trying to get the bag back on is even worse. Also, is there any way to clean off the black spots on rubber seal at the base of the bag? Finally, where would be the best places to find a cord and brushroll?

yes,

You're going to have trouble taking off and putting on the bag, which is good. Means the seal is still very good. Just pull until it pops off, Don't be afraid to tug a little hard. The black spots are just built up dirt, try some rubbing alcohol should take it right off. hope this helps!

I was trying to clean the bag, but I was having trouble keeping it puffed up so I could see inside. How could I get the bag "opened up" without turning the machine on?

I usually turn the bag inside out to clean the insides or sometimes just stick a hose with a turbo tool or upholstery nozzle on it through the bottom opening to vacuum the dirt.

Now that the bag is cleaned out, can I put it in the washing machine, or would the colors bleed?

Is it possible to remove the metal part on top of the bag?
