An early PN4 from a Super J, the one without the vents along the front digs the deepest in carpet, but I have to say I prefer a PN6 from a Diamond Jubilee or from a Marquise, the one with the little brush along the bottom in front of the front wheels, I think that cleans great also. |

Thank you very much for your comment....it's nice to know that someone around here appreciates my advice!
Chris, if you are so inclined, try making your PN5 into a PN6A with fixed wheels, instead of the floating height adjustment. I'm sure you will notice an improvement if you do this & upgrade to the newer-style brushroll that Electrolux has introduced. HOWEVER, let me ask you this....does it matter if this Lux stays all Lux accesories & parts, or would you be OK if you used a powerhead from a different brand? If you are OK with using a different brand powerhead, since you are dealing with pet hair, I would strongly advise that you buy a Eureka Sweep & Groom with a VGIII. Honestly, this powerbrush has the strongest brushing action you will find on the market, besides the Hoover Windtunnel powerbrush or the Sebo ETC powerbrush. Plus, since you are cleaning pet hair & hair has a tendency to wrap around the endcaps of brushrolls & melt them, the Eureka has the distinct advantage of having a metal brushroll with replaceable strips....you won't be replacing brushrolls every year or two. It also has a brushroll on/off switch so you can clean barefloors easily or turn the brushroll off while moving furniture out of the way. There is also a version of the Eureka with a headlight instead of the brushroll on/off switch if you prefer. The only disadvantage the Eureka would have would be that it uses flat belts, not a cogged belt like the Electrolux has, so you will need to change belts once a year. All that you would need to do to make the Eureka powerbrush work with your Electrolux wand is take the lower wand into a vac shop & have them install a buttonlocker & also have them shorten the cord on the Eureka, so it won't be too long & will be the right length to plug into the receptacle on the Electrolux sheath. There is also a Chinese-made imitation of the Eureka called the Dust Care PB11, that has a headlight & uses a cogged belt, but it is best avoided....build quality on it is not the greatest, & the motors burn out fairly quickly. Let us know what you decide to do....Rob |
