I need to know were I can get my brush bar fixed, the brush bar has removable brushes in little metal trays like. Were can I find them?

Also were do I find a replacement light bulb?

Thanks,

The lightbulbs

can be found at Lowe's. They are in a little drawer.
As far as the brushes, there is a place (archives here) where you can get them re-bristled. New ones are not readily available. Someone else in here may be able to shed more light on that. Best of luck.

If you could give me a part number or something that would be very helpful. The closed lowes is about 100 miles away.

Also if anyone can come forward with a name of anyone who could rebrush my bar I will gladly pay to have it done!

I believe that O'Connor's Sales & Service in Youngstown, Ohio does brush re-bristling.
Give them a call........Hope this helps.

The proper name

is Brush Roller . Dyson calls it a Brush Bar but any true Hoover person or any other vacuum brand knows it`s a Brush Roll / Brush Roller .

Thanks for the feeback so far, here are some photo's. I am going to repaint the motor cover. I have not desided if I want to paint the base, a almost 70 year old vac should have some battle scars.

You are going to Young's for a brush re-bristle, they most likely will have the bulb. They are a very old fashioned vacuum store. But as it is pointed out, any good hardware store should have the 15w bayonet-base bulb. The bulb may be 12v and powered from the motor's field.

the correct hoover term for the brush roll is an AGITATOR

If you post a picture of the "Agitator" and include a measurment, I MIGHT have a N.O.S. repacment.

Best of luck to you on your restoration! The original bag you have on it appears to be in excellent shape, and that's a great start--they are hard to find! And seeing it has the metal hood makes it somewhat rare if I'm not mistaken. There weren't nearly as many of those as there were with the bakelite hood. Congrats on a great find. The 28 is one of my favorite Hoovers, and a machine I believe every collector should have.

I used Bondo Glazing and Spot Putty to fill in all the scratches then sanded that smooth taped off the gold pin stripping primed it with Rust-Oleum Clean Metal Primer then followed up with Rust-Oleum Satin Dark Brown. There is a color difference between the new paint and the old paint, but not enough to bug me. And it looks 100% better. I treated the same as you would a auto body.
