Well guys, if you've seen my adavntage thread (Mea nd a piece of the 1970's meet up), you would know why i was so happy,
but for some reason, the thing doesn't want to turn on. i keep messing up things like this, and i didn't even dismantle the motor this time, so what do i do?
i was hoping to vacuum with this thing, but i can no longer even think of myself for it.

Sounds like a wiring problem exacerbated by the cleaning you did on it, or simply just arose for no reason.

Wiring

I know how to wire up the older Eureka's so I may be able to help. Here is an example of the way I wired up my 1432A with a sanitaire motor. As convertibles have the switch in the handle that eliminates the switch wiring part. Ok so you said you have 1 hot, 2 blue and 3 orange. Which wires are coming from where? If you post a picture I could get a better understanding of what and which wires are coming where. But to my knowledge you should just match up the corresponding colors and cap them off with a wire nut. Can you explain which wires are coming from where? for example on my Eureka, the cord has 3 wires. A black-hot, white-cold and green-ground. headlight "optional" mine does not have one. their wires are black and white. And then the motor wires. One blue and the other yellow. Foot switch are black and yellow. I have the yellow of foot switch to yellow of motor, white of cord to blue of motor then black of cord to black on the foot switch.

Picture

Once you get the picture posted then from there I can see what color wires are coming from where then I can tell you what goes to what.

No, 1 of each...

I tried to draw an example of the switch with keyboard charactors, XD,
Let's see....
The blue&Orange comes from the motor, along with a black hot wire.
(I also think there's a neutral that comes from the motor too, almost certain of it).
The is also of course a black hot and white neutral that comes from the Power cord.
(Note:This cleaner is aquiped with power surge;which may explain the Blue&Orange).
I'll ahve to get a better look at it when i get home, maybe even dram up a model :).

Also, if anyone here is a fan of Portal, the Blue and Orange wires go along with the Colors of the portals,Blue&Orange, and the Robots too!
(IS anyone here a fan of portal?I'm a HUGE fan :) )
