is excellent. I like the Lindhaus "Bernoulli" tool, so named after the man who discovered the principles that allow heavier-than-air flight. |

The best bare floor tool is the one Hoover provided on all their Dimension and Futura canisters. There is a single brush strip down the centre of the brush which allows the suction to pick up dirt on the backward stroke as well as the forward stroke. It is similar to the Sears Kenmore single strip bare floor brush, but the Hoover version has a better neck on it for better manouevrability.
You can get a version that does not have the pin if you need to use it with simple plastic Hoover wands. And you would need an adapter if you want to use it on non-Hoover wands and hoses. Here's a website that shows the exact brush: CLICK HERE TO GO TO eurekaprince's LINK on eBay |

looks excellent. The side bristles give it stability so it will remain level on the floor. The 9" width will focus the airflow for better cleaning on the first pass. |

We bought one as an additional tool for my parents' Hoover Ultra Self Propelled WindTunnel Upright (along with an extended-reach hose). It really is amazingly simple, yet performs with excellence. It is small enough to squeeze behind toilets in the bathroom, and paired with strong suction brings in the dirt from all directions!
Another great thing about this brush was that Hoover provided a storage slot for it right on the Dimension and Futura canisters! It's been rare to see a canister store a bare floor brush since the 1970's.... :-) |

Before the power nozzle became standard with the Filter Queen, the base tool set came with the standard rug nozzle and a clip on felt pad for vacuuming the floors. This worked very well and gave the floor a little shine at the same time. I don't know if this floor tool is an option with the current FQs.

I liked the bare floor tool on 1960s-early 80s Kenmore canisters. A single brush strip in the middle and the outer edge of the brush had a felt like material. Picked up both in forward and reverse as mentioned above. The later floor tool from the swivel hose canisters is similar but doesn't have the felt. This tool is what I use on my bare floors. The only problem is I think it should be wider, it's kind of small. It still comes with the basic canisters, and you can buy it separately at Sears along with an adapter to use on an upright vacuum wand.

I really like a bare floor tool that is open all the way across the front. On other tools, dog hair tends to get clogged up in the "vents" across the front. I then find myself having to remove the tool to clean the hair off in order to continue using it. With a tool that's completely open across the front, that problem is avoided. My least favorite tool is the Miele parquet tool. It has the castle cut all the way around and doesn't allow airflow to be concentrated.
