10 years ago today I received my first vacuum cleaner. It was a Eureka The Boss which was given to me as a 5th birthday gift from my great grandmother.

So as part of my 10 years of collecting, I went to the Goodwill yesterday to pick up a Hoover Decade 80. After I brought it home and ran it for awhile, the brush roll made a loud rattling noise when I picked the vacuum off the floor. I took the brush roll apart and lucubrated the bearings, but now the noise is even worse! It sounds much better when the brushes are contacting the carpet, but when a pick it off, it still rattles. Any ideas as to how to fix this? I'm sure this is not the motor as when I remove the brush roll the motor runs very quiet.

I wonder what type of vacuums will come my way in the next 10 years!

Nathaniel
