Total Vac no longer carries this hose?

Now I guess I might have to find the electric hose but it's getting harder lately. Even eBay doesn't even have the current style vinyl hose, just the cloth woven hose.

Can I modify the other style hose (the one that fits 1205, Super J, Marquis) to use it on the L? Seems difficult to change the machine end coupling & put a pigtail cord on the hose? Or should I go for the hose pictured here?

How easy is it to change the machine end coupling & put a pigtail on the machine end on this hose? It looks like I'll have to convert it to use on a Model L.

I hope NOT to short-circuit the hose & burn out the PN motor or hose wire if I try to do this.

TotalVac Isn't....

....Your only option on this hose. Here's a link to another eBay-based supplier with a similar one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Electric-Hose-fo...

And a Model L can also use the non-electric hose, along with a long PN cord fastened to it. Here's the hose:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Electrolux-Strai...

And here's the PN cord:

www.ezvacuum.com/electrolux-cord-...

You can secure the cord to the hose with a set of Rainbow cord straps, which I'll let you look up yourself. This kind of setup is how Electrolux did it on the first three versions of the Model L, the G, and the first 1205, among others.

You REALLY don't want to be trying to wire up something yourself, trust me. First of all, electrical safety may be lacking, and in the second place, you'll end up with a bojack job instead of a nice-looking, properly functioning vac.

@floor-a-matic . . .

That remains one of life's mysteries. I am given to understand that electric hoses are factory assemble in such a way that they don't lend to repair or alteration. Meaning -- every time one gets messed up you have to buy a new one that usually costs half the price of what you pay for an entire standard canister vacuum. What a way to make a living . . .

Were I you, I wouldn't fight City Hall on this one. If you're L comes with a PN take the electric hose with pigtail you've already found. It's better to have the machine able to be used. If later on the authentic hose you want turns up, great.

There are a couple of non-authentic Electrolux hoses with pigtails (80 bucks a pop) on eBay today and also a genuine vinyl hose for an Electrolux upright. I cannot say how easy or difficult it would be to fit onto the connector for the canister L.

Below is a link to Hesco Inc.'s Electrolux parts.

Good luck.

try to find a genuine hose. these after market hoses do not last as long. the handle angle is not correct and they break more often. the upright hose is not the easiest thing to convert. you probably have to glue it if anything. try to see if your local electrolux has a good used one for sale.

My old hose FINALLY gave way. :(

At least it's a blue cloth non-electric hose, which I'll keep. The external cord (also aqua) is still good; but I just don't like that the hose cord gets in the way.

@danesmodsandy
I don't like those hoses the electric hose there does NOT swivel at all, which is a pain. My TriStar CXL electric hose doesn't swivel either, & I'm NOT too happy with non-swivel hose handle.

@frank1002us
Thanks for all the help, I'll try to find the GENUINE electric hose. I currently have the upright hose; but the plug doesn't fit the outlet, however, the hose coupling DOES fit the suction inlet, although it doesn't stay on when I move the vac around.

I'm not sure whether to go for a used electric hose w/pigtail like this one?

I'll be moving to a new house soon, it has WTW carpet upstairs. :)

no. those hoses all leak. even if you find a new one it will leak. if i were you i would call my local aerus office to see if they have a good used hose. tell them what you can afford. they can probably find something for you.

I checked with the Aerus offices in Corpus Cristi & San Antonio & they both said the pigtail hose for a Model G/L is special order & cost $100 + tax + S/H.

Neither location has pre-owned hoses like this.

Erik:

While the genuine Aerus hose may be special order, $100 is also the going rate for a genuine Aerus hose for the later machines, so they aren't gouging you.

Aerus's hoses are of very good quality; I'd just bite the bullet and go ahead and order one. It solves your problem, it keeps your machine all-OEM, and it should last quite a long time.

I think changing the machine end coupling from a Lux upright hose may not be so hard to do?

I hope the trick works?

Total Vac had the genuine Electrolux electrified pigtail hose available & I ordered one + a PN5 brush roller ($10.95 for genuine double-helix) I hope to buy another hose for the model G.

I have a tan original Model L hose.

Can U post pic of the hose? Electrified hoses from the model G-era are VERY rare.
