Is there a way to get to the light bulb without removing the whole hood? Like can you pop the lens out? The light is burned out, and I want to replace it, but I can't get the hood off until I get the right tool to remove the screws. Thanks, Daniel :-) |

Okay, I'll have to go look for one of those screw drivers this weekend. Also, do you think this bag would fit on it? It says that it is for a convertible, but the 636 takes type C bags. Thanks for all your help! CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacuumfreak's LINK on eBay |

Any chance of a picture of the handle please?
I ask because iy appears that this machine might be like the Uk version (638) with a footswitch - see picture 2, the silver lever on the right of the picture. Also it looks like the flex (cord) going up the outside of the handle in the same manner as it does on the Junior models. Was this a Canadian made machine? Al |

Did these older models shift into high speed when the converter was inserted? Or was that a new feature on the Convertible? Was the suction about the same? |

I believe they do not shift into high speed since it looks like there is nothing there like a switch of some sort to do this. I may be wrong, but it doesn't look like it to me. Daniel :-) |

The convertible was the first machine to have the two speed feature on the model 65. |

Is that possibly a Perivale built machine? Its identical to our 638 in all but colour! Seamus |

Theres only one problem to finding this out. As you can see in the second picture from the top, the model plate is almost completely gone. The only way I could tell what model stamped into the metal on the bottom of the machine. Daniel |

The 636 looks very similar to your 638, although the number on my 636 doesn't go all the way around the base like yours does. Here is the bottom plate. It just as well may be a UK built machine, but I just wish the model plate wasn't worn off like it is :/ |

That its a UK machine as I dont think the Canadian factory would have built it with a footswitch etc. Also note the HOOVER on the hood is picked out in white like our 638 whereas the US version its unhighlighted...... Seamus |

Apart from the interesting points Seamus makes about the "Hoover" being highlighted and "carpets" as opposed to "rugs", I must say, having done some work on my 638 very recently, this machine looks absolutly identical.
Now it may be just a co-incidence but the Canadian version of our 375 was model 376, and I believe also that the Canadian version of the Hoover 417 was 416. Was there a Canadian version of our 119 (US = 115)? what model would that be? Al |
