I think the old Hoover attachments from the 1950s-70s are neat looking. My favorites are the furniture brush and the rug nozzle. I was wondering why do some canister Hoovers from back then have both the rug nozzle as well as the bare floor brush, but others only have the rug nozzle? Was it because only certain rug nozzles were adjustable for bare floors? Also, when was the old style 1950s-60s rug nozzle discontinued in favor of the later smaller white one that had "Edge Cleaning" under the Hoover logo? I noticed on here an older style rug/floor nozzle that also had "Edge Cleaning" on it too, and it seems there was another squarer version of it as well that was seen on the Spirits and Portables.
What type of floor tool would my Penncrest have had? Lastly, was the furniture brush used mainly on lower end machines? I know it came with the Convertibles that had the basic cleaning set, and some Constellations and Slimlines. Thanks! |

Thanks for the info. My favorite Hoover floor nozzle was the curvy one with a swivel neck and the tabs on either side for rugs or floors. I've seen a later white nozzle that has Edge Cleaning that came with Slimlines and some very late Constellations in the mid-70s. Was that one for use on bare floors as well? The Portable and Spirit also came with another later style-flatter and squarer version of the curvy floor nozzle in the early 1980s.
