Hi, im new here, ive been fixing up old vacs for years, mostly hoovers, i have a problem with this model, the hoover junior 1334, the armature was badly worn and the front bearing sticking in a few places, i need to find out how to get the front motor bearing off the shaft as its stuck on there pretty good, cant find any info on net at all, this is an early 1334 so wont be same as later models, any ideas?

Tim...

Same as I said in reply to your question on my U1104 vid, the bearing could be rusted to the armature, you need to use a bit of force to free it, after all the motor is probably 50 years old now, so bound to be a bit "stuck together" now... :)

If you have a new armature, you might want to consider just buying a new bearing, as that's what I did for my U1104 and other Juniors, those front bearings are not easily serviceable sadly, so it's easier to replace than repair... :)

This bearing will fit your 1334 (they're all the same bearing for the Juniors between the 13xx and the U1xxx models):

The rear bearing though you could get away with refurbishing, just use cotton tips and 3-in-1 oil to clean the inner race out until the cotton tips come out clean, then soak the bearing in oil until it won't take on any more and it should be good for many years to come... :)

Or cheat and fit a new one along with the front one, though this is a bit expensive:
