hi guys i have the tristar exl which i bought new in early 2002 i think its an exellent machine compared to alot of other vacuums that are sold on a home demo basis.
what i want to know are they still being sold in the uk because every search i do this wonderfull thing called the internet brings up nothing (unless im being totally blonde (i am really blonde) and not looking in the right places.
i know there are not to many tristar vacuums in the uk unlike things like the kirby or vorwerk.
i can count on both hands the amount of times ive used it since i bought so its still like brand new but if i wanted to get spares for it i dont know where to look. im also thinking of selling it now as i have run out of space and am getting moaned by my other half that the vacuum cleaners have taken over the house lol.

Spares:

If there is no stockist in the U.K. any more, there's always TriStar Canada. Very nice people, and no problems with out-of-stock conditions.

Their Website is linked below. I used them extensively when restoring my CXL, because the American TriStar distributors were a joke.

I'd keep the TriStar if I were you; it's the vacuum that will last long after most have burnt out their motors or developed suction leaks.

Spares aren't too hard to find, that and they need relatively little in terms of spares, just bags really, and there's an ebay UK seller who has either DVC or Dust-Care brand bags (I think they're DVC, must go check my "stock" of Tristar bags cos I bought some from them a couple of years ago), the current original Tristar bags aren't particularly good at filtering, so the generic bags have the advantage... :)

More in-depth spares like motor parts, belts and brushrolls would most likely have to be sourced from Tristar themselves, or ebayUS, there's plenty of aftermarket spares on ebay US, which is where a few of the parts for my converted (by myself) CXL came from... :)

These are the bags if you need them:

thanx guys

its something to keep in mind i dont use it often enough to warrant new brush rolls or things like that but ti would be good to know where i can get the stuff from, thats if i decide to keep it lol i really must clear out before it creates war with him indoors
besides id rather it go to someone who will look after ai and use it more it than i will i think she deserves that
