I snagged this up yesterday on my lunch break at an auction not too far from my work, I have only seen one of these before and it wasn't even close to nice as this one.  Includes everything down to the dealer certificate and genuine Interstate bags.  The hose still has a great seal albeit it had a huge dent in the middle from the machine sitting on top of it for years which I hammered out and there is no motor noise or anything.

I say this was impulse because I only saw it for 5 minutes before it was up for bids and I was hoping I'd get it for pennies on the dollar like I usually do.  However, since the auction company mentioned it as "semi-antique" I was in a bidding war with a reseller and just kept semi consciously raising my bid card until it was mine for $45.  That is way more than what I would pay normally but it had to go home with me.  The subdivision the auction was held at (Paddock Forest) must have a voodoo curse on old sweepers as I had the same thing happen a few years back when I paid out the wazoo for my Celeb II at another auction in the area, but it's sold as is where is, no returns or exchanges.

This Is

Early 1950's, equivalent to a Compact C-2.

Just FYI, the Compact was sold by in-home demonstration only, and Revelation was sold in stores; Interstate was trying to have it both ways at that time.

Great purchase! I was scanning thru auction zip and saw the pictures of this vacuum and the others that were in the sale!

Great find . . .

Congratulations, the price is really great. Depending upon model and rarity (old AirWay uprights, the GE Roll-Easy, etc.) things usually can go overboard on eBay. Shipping fees are also getting a bit silly too. Enjoy!

Great find Alex, I don't think I have seen the tool carrier box for a compact. The tools look like they are in pristine condition.

WOW! Now that was a steal you got there, Alex! $45 was well worth every penny spent, for a vacuum in such good condition.

That's a very nice find there, it's not often you find a complete vac from the 50's that hasn't been fiddled with and non-standard tools bundled with it... :)

I'm a little puzzled that anyone would consider $45 to be a high price to pay for a machine like this in such outstanding condition. What do they normally sell for?

David, I'm used to at the auctions paying literally 2.5 to 10 dollars for sweepers, but now that I have had a chance for the remorse to subside I realize the value now

Two and a half to ten dollars!? You obviously have much better sources than I do. Prices like that could really spoil a guy. Nevertheless, what a fantastic looking machine you have there. I wouldn't regret a single penny of the forty five dollars you just spent. Congratulations for such a good find.

Price!

I agree with you Alex! at our goodwill Outlet all vacs are 5.00 and at auctions I usually never spend more than 10.00.

L-O-V-E the stubby hairpins on your hassock! I had to add casters to mine (a later model w/ a Compact) or risk a hernia trying to slide that sucker around! The lid weighs more than the bottom + machine and tools all together! It's like it has a solid lead core wrapped in vinyl!! Is that true with yours as well?

If....

....It makes you feel any better about the $45 you paid for this machine, that rug tool is essentially the same one seen on later TriStars, and still available as a replacement part.

At one hundred twenty-five dollars. Yep. You read that right. For one tool. So, $45 for the whole shebang sounds pretty good to me.

Nice Compact/Revelation, & what a great deal!

I too am CRAZY for Compact/TriStar vacs! :)
