I wonder when, exactly, did Eureka transition (on the decals of their uprights and canisters themselves) from the old Eureka-Williams period logo (with the "electric E" logo) to the all-caps, Helvetica EUREKA logo that they'd used since 1974?
Specifically, I'd like to find out what type letter would've been the first with the post-1974 logo; as well as the serial #, in cases where there was both, for example, a model 1756A with the older (pre-1974) logo and a model 1756A with the newer (post-1974) logo. And this is in regards to the 1980-84 period. Again, some of the models Eureka sold had both the older and newer logos: one instance of the model 1428 upright in early literature has the post-1974 logo on the bag but has the pre-1974 logo on the Dial-A-Nap decal. And some of these models had successfully made the transition from the old logo to the new, including the previously-mentioned 1428 upright, as well as the 1746 and 1756 Power Team canisters (the latter is in the exotic Brandywine color, that people like "Miss J." Huber bring up here on the VCCC every now and then). Those that didn't make the cut by 1985 included the fabled "canned ham" 1800 series canisters. The very first Mighty Mite canisters circa 1982 had the newer logo on the main canister unit but had the pre-1974 logo on the surface nozzle. The attached video, courtesy of Josh Marshall aka stars1976, shows some old Eureka literature from the 1980s. One sales leaflet recycles another: the 1784 Power Team canister uses the 1777 Power Team in it, since it has the pre-1974 Eureka logo on the main unit and the nozzle, while the back of the same leaflet has the post-1984 Eureka (italicized) logo. ~Ben CLICK HERE TO GO TO KirbyClassicIII's LINK |
