Greetings Vacuum Land,

So about 5 years ago I purchased a Aerus Lux Classic new off of Ebay. I paid around $350.00 plus shipping, but to my surprise I received a brand new vacuum in the sealed, factory box. So it probably fell off of a truck or something.

Six months later my wife and I purchase a Black Lab puppy. Of course, for those of you who have Labs will have seen this coming, I was stupid and left the power cord extended. Chewed threw in seconds. I live in the absolute middle of nowhere, so the closest Aerus dealer/repair is 80 miles away. I took the machine apart to see if I could get a new cord or winder/cord.

Fast forward four and a half years and I just now got the Classic back together. Surprisingly, I had retained all the parts, minus the bumper strips and the top screws that are under the filter cover. Well, I ordered the cord winder from Ebay and asked the guy I bought it from if he could get me the bumper strips/plastic connectors. I told him the model and the color, but what do I end up with a winder from the newest generation that does not require the back, top two screws to hold in place (kinda nice actually) and two damn dark gray bumpers.

So come to find out, not only are the bumpers dark gray, but they are used as well, and I payed for new. I got screwed by a Canadian (sorry to all my honest brothers and sisters up North; I don't mean to cast aspersions on all Canadians, just several hundred that are on my enemies list). But the machines worked after I got it all back together, so yeah. But it looks like crap.

Well, another Ebay seller, American_Vacuum_Supply came to the rescue and got me two new bumpers/connectors in the original color and they are on the way as I write. And for half the price of the first seller. The vacuum works like a champ and it should, it is really only had six months of use.

So the moral is, don't put off four and a half years what you could have done four and half years ago before you lose parts and Aerus' are damn easy to work on. I mean it, once you master removing the bumpers and a couple other pressure connections, the machine is open and accessible and all the part fit into the plastic base perfectly because there are groves and clearly marked locations for each part, i.e. the cord winder, motor, etc.

That is my story.

Johnathan

A few too many?

Ok, probably not several hundred, I can't even think of one, but it sounds so much sinister having an enemies list. I know, I just put all the people I know who purchased Dysons on the list instead!
