Is it possible to switch power nozzles on just any canister vacuum?

If by switch, you mean swap, no, not really, each different manufacturer makes their PNs to fit their hardware, for example, back when Compact & Tristar vacs used Eureka-type PNs, they had an adaptor to fit the Eureka PN's elbow, without it, the Compact/Tristar wands fit, but will not lock as the button is higher up compared to a Eureka wand...

With some vacs, you can modify a modern replacement hose to take the wands & PN, but it varies from brand to brand and even vac to vac... :)
