Hey guys would anyone know step by step on how to lube a Hoover Convertible? How often?

What model is your Convertible. That would make this question easier to answer. Also, are you planning to grease the motor bearings as well?

I want to grease everything lol. I have Hoover Convertibles 1030, U4411, U4001, U4371-042, U4413-042, U4597, U4397, U4027, U4127, Hoover Model 63, U4401 and U4423

Here are some tips!

 Brushroll (1030, U4001, and U4027 ONLY):
Set the machine down so it rests on it's handle and bumper and remove the bottom plate by moving the two metal latches on each side out of the way. Next, remove the belt from the fan, making a good note of how the belt was installed, and pull the brushroll out of the machine. You will notice that the end cap on the left has two metal guides and a notch to guide it into the base. Hold this end cap and loosen the other end cap until it comes off. Then, use a good quality automotive bearing grease, the type that comes in a round can, and, wearing latex or vinyl gloves on your hands, take a small amount of grease with your finger and evenly spread the grease inside the space. put a good amount of grease inside, but not enough to fill the space. One greased, reinstall the end cap, reconnect the belt to the machine, put the brushroll back in the machine the same way it came out, and reinstall the bottom plate. Your machine is ready to be used. If the brushroll is still noisy, you may need to replace the brushroll bearing. I am unsure of how to grease the brushroll on your other Hoovers, however.

Top Motor Bearing (ALL Machines EXCEPT model 63):
Remove the motor hood by removing the two screws under the machine that hold it on. Flip the machine upright so you can begin to disassemble the motor. You will notice a somewhat circular metal plate on the top of the motor with three screws holding it on. Remove these screws and remove the metal plate. You may need to pry out the metal plate with a screwdriver if it is stuck. Once the plate is removed, flip it upside down and you will notice a hole in the middle. With a BLUE bottle of 3-in-1 oil (MUST be blue bottle) and several Q-tips, place a drop of oil on one end of a Q-tip and clean the inside of the hole, which is a sleeve bearing. You may need several Q-tips to clean out all of the dirt before the Q-tips start coming out clean. Once they do, put several drops of oil directly into the hole and immediately place the metal plate back on the motor and put the screws back in.

For the bottom motor bearing greasing, I would advise that you check out a thread from the Vintage Forum Archives and find a thread entitled, "Hoover Convertible Lower Bearing Maintenance for spats," where this topic was covered.

There is no basis that you necessarily need to follow for greasing these machines. Just listen to the machine and if it is making strange noises, go ahead and grease the brushroll and motor bearings.

I forgot to mention . . .

 that only the 1030 has the speed switch that was discussed in the thread about the bottom bearings.
