So yesterday I was sitting around bored so i decided to clean up my 719 convertible (which ive been meaning to do for a long time but ive just been too lazy lol).
I bought this machine from a thrift store about 2 years ago along with a filter queen and some bags for a total of around $20.
In some of the pics its hard to tell that theres much of a difference but trust me in person it looks a whole lot nicer then it used to!

Enjoy!
Trevor

Nice job, Trevor.  I don't know when I'll ever get around to working on my 719.  Maybe I should have you do it for me!

GREAT JOB!

It looks very nice! I noticed your orange Custom Convertible and recalled the video which you made on YouTube after you restored it. I am very curious as to what you did to restore it, and specifically, which polish you used.

Thanks Everyone!!

I Greatly appreciate the nice feedback!
And to Hoover719: Basically what I do when restoring a convertible is a take it apart very carefully (as pictured above) and hand wash all of the parts and hand clean all of the electrical parts. Then what i use to polish the plastic is just basic Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish with a clean rag!

I appreciate the advice. Did you first sand down the plastic to remove the gouges and scratches or did the polish take them out immediately?

Well..

On the Custom Convertible there were a few scratches but they werent deep so the polished made them better but for deep scratches I would definatley sand the area down a little bit before polishing

There's another 719 at a local thrift store--looks just like yours. I think they want $10 for it. It looks well, but the bag cover is detached from the bellows. I'm not sure if it's just supposed to slip on, or if there is a piece that secures it.

When was the machine manufactured?

The 719 was manufactured from 1969-1971.  It was the top end "B-line"  cleaner to the model 1070.  The pink model 589 is the lower end match to the 719.  $10 is a steal, the bag is pretty easy to figure out how to reattach...  Go save it!  :-)

Thanks for the information, Fred. I'm not really into Hoovers just Electroluxes; wish I were because $10 is a steal!
