shake and vac,was so popular in the 70's and early 80's.It did make the rooms smell good ,because you vaccumed it up into your smelly filter bag.Plus it would clog the pores of the bag and you would have to replace the filter bags more often. |

i dont remember this ad at all, thanks for sharing it Simon
Its actually not a Powerplus Hoover - its still a Senior - 4186 to be exact, although the powerplus is, to all extents and purposes the same apart from the colour. The Hoover Compact is a Junior with box rather than a bag, although for 1982 I would have thought it would all have been in cream The last cannister is a 427. Its hard to tell from the vid whether it is orange or yellow - it looks yellow to me - but as far as I know that colour was only sold in France Apart from clogging bags S&V could also clog the airways of teh cleaner as well and if it got at all wet would set like concrete as I found with a Turbopower Freedom Al |

Don't worry about me, I've used it plenty of times before and never had any bag experiences. Woops, BAD experiences I should say, Freudian slip ha ha.
It only becomes a clogging hazard to the suction passages when you use too much on the carpet. I only put a thin layer on (being a cheap skate helps me do this!) and vacuum it up with the motor on full speed. As for the bag getting blocked up, yes, that may happen, but the bag is already 1/3 full anyway, so I'll probably just replace it when I've finished, something I've been meaning to do anyway. |
