I've worn out several of them. What would you like to know about the machine? |

Oh I really was just wondering like when it came out, if it was popular, where it was sold and stuff like that. |

Well originally this was the Elite 200 starting around 1988. This one would have been a later model 200 or a replacment for the 200 probably 1992ish. The red encore came a little later. These were the bottom of the line cheapest Elite you could get with no bells and whistles, but still a good little Hoover. No zipper, headlight, tools, carpet settings, and only like 5 amp motor.

Just a correction to what Philip said in his post about the BOL Hoover Encore upright....It was 7 amps, NOT 5 amps. I know because I bought 1 of them new in 1996 along with a Hoover Hornet straight suction canister to clean a large townhouse I was sharing with a friend. When my friend broke it 1 1/2 years later by picking up something that shattered the fan, I just pitched it in the trash, as it only cost $115 including taxes. Probably would have cost as much to have it repaired.
