I saw a Royal Commercial model vacuum, in a pawn shop, for $60.00. Is that too much? It looks like the older Kirby models. I turned it on to hear it run and it sounds really loud, I'm guessing it might have one of the blades chipped or broken off of the fan. It has an orange zipper bag on it and looks to use paper bags. I'm thinking $60.00 might be too much money, as pawn shops typically are high. What do you all think? I've heard that these models of Royals are really good vacuums.

Can you look on its nameplate to see where it was built-US built Royal machines are the best.If its noisey-may be a bad fan or bearings. If its got a blown fan or bearings-the price is too high.

If it doesnt break your budget buy it.

The newer royals with the 9.0 amp motors are loud but they are great carpet cleaning machines.I like mine as much as my kirby's just purchased one for $15.00 is was built around 2000.

I'd love to see when this Royal was made.

Presumably, I'd be targeting the 1985-1990 or 1990-1995 generations. Prior to April 1990 (March 1990 and back) all Royal metal uprights used 6-blade impeller fans, whereas those made since April 1990 use the nine-blade impellers.

Thanks, Rich, I went to youtube and watched the video. I think the Royal in the pawnshop is louder than the one on the video. It has to be a newer model, as it looks like the one in the video with a smaller head, I think it has the fan that has 9 impeller blades on it. I may wait another week or so. The pawnshop told me that after December 20, if it hasn't sold by then, they will drop the price on it to $47.95.
