I found this at Big Lots for $99 and it was just too good of a deal to pass up. It is a one speed 'step switch', which I really like. It has the helping handle which is also nice. The main reason I got it was because of the neat bag design. My only complaint is that the cord is quite short for an Oreck, but all and out, I love it.
I know a lot of people that say they hate Oreck, but I own quite a few and really do like them. They are especially good on bare floors and rugs. I use them to clean all of the bath mats in the house because they don't tear the rug up. Here it is: |

You are correct! If you type Oreck American Heritage in on Google, it gives you the link to the special edition machines, and the American Heritage is there. It comes in red, white, or blue. I forgot to mention that the one I got was factory reconditioned, so that would explain the bag.

Thanks for the heads up vacman117. I got one too. Mine is all gray. First Oreck I've ever had or used. It seems OK. Seems odd not to have attachments to play with. I do like the long handle. |

Our Big Lots store here just reopened a couple of weeks ago in a much larger location. Went to check it out & noticed that they had a lot of these reconditioned models in stock. I wonder if these were some of the machines people returned on the 30 day gurantee that Oreck has. All the stock appeared to be reconditioned & were $99 each.
