While searching on Amazon for carpet extractors, I found something for sale that I thought was discontinued long ago. It seems that Bissell still makes their Big Green Cleaning Machine under the Rubbermaid name, and selling it for only $100.

I have heard that the original Big Green was a great deep cleaner, and they still sell for good money on eBay. So is the Amazon listing to be believed?

I had no idea! Rubbermaid does sell Bisell Powerforces under the Rubbermaid name, so it makes sense. The original Big Greens really are good carpet cleaners, especially at getting set in stains out.

I have a few , buy them up were ever I can

they are great for furniture and cars, the carpet tool is a bot small so it takes forever to do a room. They have a much bigger pump in them than the newer upright versions so they do clean better. My Dad still uses two in his carpet cleaning business for stain removal and spot cleaning, Both are still on there original  motors although we have replaced the carbon brushes and bearings a few times, I also had the fan casings powder-coated to stop them from rusting.

I liked the original ones. My favorite though was the model that could be used as a wet/dry vacuum as well, and had extra cleaning attachments. Kind of like the Kenmore Cleanmore machines.

I agree. The older Big Greens from 1992/1993 were awesome to have. But I have a Steamvac which makes it look like crap.

My parents got me the Rubbermaid for Christmas! I will be cleaning with it later today. I will post some pictures and a review sometime tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

I never knew that. Doesn't Rubbermaid make plastic containers?

I'm pretty sure that I've seen cleaners' yellow and black hazard signs, e.g.; "Caution: Cleaning in Progress", with the Rubbermaid brand logo underneath.

Probably branched out into other vacuum formed plastics areas.
