This was an incredible auction today! It was held at the Airport at 2 different hangers, 10 semi loads full of Furniture, household appliances, lawn & garden, tools,  there were 200 Kenmore Canisters, and up to 100 different variety of used uprights, dyson, kenmore, hoover, LG.

The Kenmore canisters were 3/4 new, 1/4 used, variety of intuitions, progressives, and the cheaper canisters. I bought a Intuition that sells for $599 for just $60!!!!!!

You got a great deal! I saw that same model vacuum at Sears today, I think it was $599.

Consumer Reports has rated this as the top performing power nozzle canister among a pool of over 20 tested canisters. Here's their review -

Among canister brands, Kenmore has consistently been among the top performers and has been among the least repair-prone in our surveys. Impressive carpet cleaning and superb pet-hair pickup and airflow for tools helped make this model a top pick among bagged canisters. It was also relatively easy to handle, despite its 26-pound weight, and quieter than many vacs. Key features include a manual carpet-height adjustment, which is better than automatic systems at matching the brush to the surface, and suction control to help protect drapes when using tools. You also get a brush on/off switch, which safeguards bare floors and prevents scattered dust and debris. And like most canisters, this one has a retractable cord that rewinds at the push of a button. All of that helps make its relatively high price a bit more palatable.

Highs• Excels at removing embedded dirt from carpets
• Performs well when cleaning bare floors; ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and hardwood floors
• Does well at picking up pet hair, which is nice if you have a cat or dog
• Excels in capturing all the dust it picks up, which is good if you have allergies or respiratory illnesses
• Strong tool airflow, which is a factor if you will be using the vacuums accessories for cleaning
• Has a manual carpet-height adjustment, which is better than automatic systems at matching the brush to the surface
• Has suction control, which helps protects drapes when using tools
• Has a brush on/off switch, which safeguards bare floors and prevents scattered dust and debris
• Has a retractable cord, which allows you to rewind via a slight tug or a push button

Lows
• No discernable lows

Detailed test results

CARPET CLEANING: The Kenmore Intuition 28014 does a very good job of removing the embedded mixture of sand and powder from our soiled test carpets. This is a measure of how well a vacuum removes the dirt hidden deep in the carpet and not visible to the user's eye.

BARE FLOOR: The Kenmore does an excellent job of removing sand from our vinyl floor, leaving very little behind and not scattering sand across the floor.

PET HAIR: This model does an excellent job at picking up pet hair from carpets using its power head. The visual inspection of the test carpet following the pet hair test reveals no traces of pet hair left behind and very little pet hair caught in the brush roll.

USABILITY: This Kenmore is packed with many creature comforts, such as a nice telescopic wand, and nicely placed electronic controls on the handle for suction, and brush rotation. A dirt sensor is also conveniently placed on the handle. A unique feature is a quick release floor brush that is integrated into the main power head.

Sorry, I am in Indiana! Greencastle as a matter of fact!  This is the first auction of this kind around here. I think it was Liquidation.com cleaning out their warehouse.

And why didn't you call me? *Arms folded, tapping foot, eyebrows raised* BTW, I just saw this one on the Kmart website for $479, but still a wicked good deal.

I am surprised they didn't lot them out. I've been to bank auctions where I saw a nice computer I was going to bid on. When the auctioneer got to them I heard "Now what is my opening bid for 50 of these XXX brand computers..."Then it moved to a lot of 200 Calculators, etc.

What the heck am I going to do with 50 computers or 200 desktop calculators?

I think auctions like to do this to blow through the merchandise quickly.

This was a public auction,  I have never been to an auction where they make you take mass items. Now when they got to the vacuums the auctioneer  says  that "we are now moving to a stack of 20 Kenmore vacuums, choice" which means you pick which one you desire.  I have always heard them mention as to how many they are  offering but which choice you want.

Sometimes in specialty auctions they do sell off large quantities in one lot. It's typically called "Times the Money" where you will be bidding on say, 4 computers at $5 Times the Money, meaning $5 per computer, for a total of $20. It's designed to make people bid higher without necessarily thinking of the fact they are multiplying this amount by the number of items. I know that most school systems are on a 3 year program with their computers in which they replace a third of their computers every year in order to replace all computers every 3 years. These school systems then auction off these mass amounts of computers, often a pallet (with 40 or more computers on it) at a time. Just one more thing to separate the men from the boys at an auction.

Very cool!

That lift-off bare floor brush is an amazingly clever idea I have never seen before.

I have not seen this Intuition model before. The lift-off floor brush is a pretty neat trick, particularly for those with wood floors and area rugs. Do you believe this to be a Panasonic made for Kenmore model, like the Progressive is?

Post# 156981 , Reply# 17   10/26/2011 at 07:51 (4,563 days old) by massagemiracle ()

I assume that it is, but this is the second blue intuition that I have had, and this is an improvement over the first. One thing is that the hose is better than the other one, it is stronger, I always felt that the hoses on the progressives and intuitions were easy to bend, to  reshape but this one is not that easy. I like it!

As for the lift off brush, I like it too, seals nicely on the powerhead, convenient!

At this auction - was any of the vacuums sold in lots? Another thing we never have anything like this in our area. Estate sales is about it - no auctions etc. You are sitting on a gold mine....Enjoy!

Post# 157301 , Reply# 21   10/28/2011 at 17:08 (4,560 days old) by massagemiracle ()

There were different lots through out the sale, but all vacuums were sold as individuals, some bought as many as 10 at once. This is the first time around here that there was a sale like that around here.
