The S6 canisters are named Quartz, Red Velvet, Onyx, Topaz, Jasper. This is the Red Velvet.

Looks like they are moving away from electronic suction control to manually selected suction control.

Miele Experts:

Anyone know if they are going to correct the complaints about the short hose and power cords?

Why so many different models? They all look basically the same but different color plastic bodies.

Are these designed to appeal to lower tier buyers or apartment dwellers?

Out side of the USA most appliances are designed with appartment dwellers in mind, these ar what are been built the most.

Even here in SA were land is aplenty greedy property developers have worked out you can buld allot more houses and make more money on the same piece of land than building big spacious homes.

That is why out side of the USA upright vacuums aren't popular any more

Thanks Gareth,

That makes perfecf sense. If you had a small apartment there would be no need for a longer hose or power cord or even the power brush.

You would think they would make some changes to accomodate the US market since our homes are much larger and they offer so many models. I hear the same thing about Miele's over and over again with the short hose and power cords and not so great small tools. I do like the Topaz color. Very different.

I also don;t care for the tools under the lid where you have to bend over and mess with the plastic door every time you need to change the tool.  I have that same set up on my Electrolux Epic 8000 but that is JUST a personel choice. No one perfect vacuum for everyone.

I would like to get a Miele in the future.

So I guess the target sales will be for customers that have a small house or live in apartment. I would assume the bag capacity would be smaller too, which would add to the ownership costs over time if this machine were purchased for a big house.   Thanks for you information!

I just bought a Miele s7000 cat&dog upright. I bought it only to retest it after the first one I bought to try out about 2 years ago must have been a complete dud and put the machine in a bad light for me.

Personally I prefer a dyson due to its bag less ness

Josh,

You might want to sell your Rainbow on ebay as they bring good prices for even the older machines. What would be the advantage of buying another Miele if you already have the top of line Capricorn? Are there new features on the Topez that the Capricorn does not have? I like the color of the Topez but I have read mixed reviews of the lower end power nozzle. I guess it depends on what type of carpeting you have in your home. Give us an update when you get your new Topez.

.

Josh,

Please re read my post. I made no reference to you having dust leaking or dust in your house. My reference was that you might be able to get MORE money if you sold your Rainbow on Ebay as they seem to bring a good prices.

I do not own a Miele but have been keeping up with what others are posting about having problems with the bags leaking.
