Since I am the first to respond

I am sorry to be the one to tell you, but Yes. It's true.
TTI owns, Roya, Dirt Devil, Hoover and from what I understand manufactures several other brands for them.

Since we are revealing not so well kept secrets.
Tooth Fairy, Santa, Easter Bunny--all made up.

TTI didn't always own Dirt Devil

All of the bagged Dirt Devil Broom Vacs and other Dirt Devil vacuums from the era were made by Royal, independently from TTI, and built in the USA.

DD isn't great anymore

Sadly I'd never buy a Royal, Hoover, Or Dirt Devil agian unless it's an old one...
Shame on TTI way to ruin a good brand.

TTI also own many other brands, including the UK brand "Vax", and it's under the Vax brand that they sell a few US Hoover models, and they also sold the Hoover Constellation remake as the Maytag Satellite, I think it's more to do with the licensing of the Hoover name, as in Europe, Hoover is owned by the Italian Candy group, so any US models have to be renamed and rebranded... :S

Of course, TTI even rebrand in the US, you can buy a Hoover Decade80 under the Royal name, sold as a commercial vac, TTI have to be the worst for "brand confusion" to date... :S

I refuse to buy any TTI-made plastic crap.

Okay, I really do not understand what TTI has done wrong, I mean seriously. There are a lot of Hoovers that are actually really good cleaners. They have not done anything wrong.

I agree with Chase; I have three "TTI" Hoovers and they are great machines! What is so terrible about them?

I third that.

TTI seems to have built some very nice truly multi- and dual- cyclonic vacuums.

Plus they kept some great vacuums, such as the Hoover Elite (commercial), Guardsman (both the convertible and decade styles), the Conquest, etc.

The one thing I don't like is that (I believe) TTI did in the Dirt Devil bagged upright, and named a rechargeable broom thingy after it. Though the name probably is more fitting for the latter, TTI needs to bring back the bagged Broom Vac design, even if they rename it something typical yet fitting like "Featherlite" or "Powerlite".
