I have a few of these Tacony vacs. They have a tough metal brushroll. Great durability, built to last. Ball bearings in them.
Two of the three brushrolls that I've removed don't spin freely, however. There seems to be a moderate amount of resistance when I hold the ends and try to spin them. Only the one from the Carpet Pro seems to spin freely.
I can't really understand this. My initial thought is that the bearings are bad. But on two out of three rolls? Seems too much. I did some research on the web. There was a mention that the brushrolls designed to be idled had a rubber clutch pad. Odd, because my vacuums do not have the option of idling the roller. So This leads me to wonder whether all the Tacony brushrolls have a rubber clutch and are supposed to have resistance like this. I don't know. But I am worried that if the bearings are seized up, that I'm going to burn up a motor because of the resistance.
Anyone know if the Tacony brushrolls are supposed to have resistance like this?
