I am a huge fan of other brands that make vacuums to compete with Oreck. I am not saying I don't like Oreck, in fact they are one of my favorite brands, but sometimes others tend to be a little 'better'. My favorites are my Hoover Clean & Light and my Bissell Pro Lite. Both have a bigger and stiffer brushrolls, bigger suction tubes, and a way more 'sturdy' feel compared to an Oreck (excluding the XL21). Each of these are both brand new as well! The Pro Lite is also a twin fan, which is really neat. The Hoover is better at grooming the carpet, but the Pro Lite digs into the carpet a little more, which makes me unable to use it on my deep pile carpeting in my living room.

What is your favorite 'knockoff'?

I like the sanitairesc9050 I got to test one wile it was been considered for the SA market , but didn't Orek have a very similar model?

I must say I have great respect for oreks, you don't get them here officially but there are a number of them around,

Does any one know what the tie up between orek and Ivac of the netherlands is?

I see oreck sells the ivac fast up350 under thier own name in the states

For me it's the Hoover Platinum lightweight upright model UH30010. Love the LED headlight and two-speed switch.

Over this side we have something called the light n' Easey. I've never used one personally but I'm always intrigued by them. I wouldn't mind getting one at some point but frankly, I have better things to spend my money on :P

I'd have to say the Hoover Platinum as well. It looks great and seems really powerful.... even the sound.... though that Sanitaire is very Intriguing.... too bad they didn't do something better with the power switch. The aesthetics are the pefect blend of old versus new.
