Good Morning Doug, thanks for your feedback. I have got to agree about the Kirby, but have never owned one. Saw one at a thrift store recently, it had green trim. Their sales people are abominable. I would only buy used. As for the Singers you acquired they sound like a great deal, even for that price. And I bet you could find a brush without too much trouble. Re the plastic crap you mentioned, I posted in the 1980 and newer recently about a Hoover, which has to be 98% plastic, but it misses it's cord and plastic wand. It was so complete, I swiped it from someone's trash. Does not look hammered either, but it is used looking. Good to hear from you, keep in touch. Alan

Alan by all means get that Green Kirby. To my knowledge it is the only green model they have ever had. It is one of my favorites in my collection. |

Good morning Doug and Terry. First of all Doug, you are not a pain in the neck, secondly, I saw the Kirby about two weeks ago and wouldn't be sure if it were still there. I will check maybe today, things are wierd around here and it's not always easy to get around. Doug, what a kind nephew, he's either in the club or your relatives are more supportive than mine. I'll certainly keep in touch, it's nice to hear from you all. Have a good day guys, later, Alan

So I went to the Hibiscus House thrift store looking for the green Kirby, and practically tripped over a late sixties Chinese modern black Magnavox. After much soul searching and trying to see if stereo might work, the vacuum was almost forgotten, I wandered back where I thought it might still be after two weeks and it sure was. Nixed the stereo, and agonized whether or not I wanted to spend the grocery money on the Kirby (tools included). I had to take the practical way out and spend the money on necessities. So I bought the Kirby and all the avocado colored tools for $58.58. I can eat later. What's important is that I made the right choice. Now, I can say I own a Kirby! What amazes me is how small and lightweight it is, and all of the rubber and plastic components are all avocado green. And just like my Hoover Dial-A-Matic, I haven't tried it out yet either. You'd have to be here to see why. As soon as I can figure out how to upload pictures, I will show these toys off. All you Kirbitarians let me know what you think. Soon I'll find out what all the raving is about! Alan |

Vacjwt, the impression I get from Doug and Terry in previous posts, this is kind of a hot item. I am surprised I found it. If it was only produced for 3 or 4 years I'm sure it would affect availability, but judging the things I've seen turn up for you, I'd wonder why you haven't found one yet. My camera is a micro size Vivitar, $10.00 from $39.00 in Walgreen's, so my luck is iffy. I'll work on it, thanks for the comments, and I hope somebody else reads here, because the thread title leads you to believe these are all Singer comments. Later, Alan
