Interesting - you're supposed to receive a "brand new unit" if you buy directly from a Rainbow authorized distributor. However, both times I've had one demoed, they attempted to sell me the machine that they that used in countless demos. After the demo, they boxed up the demo machine as if it were still brand new.

From Rainbow web site:
Advantages of Buying from an Authorized Rainbow Distributor or Dealer
•You know who you are dealing with – an Authorized Rainbow Distributor who is committed to customer satisfaction.
•You will receive an authorized warranty that is backed by Rexair LLC.
•You will receive personal service and attention.
•You will receive a brand new unit in perfect condition.
•You will have access to convenient, authorized local service.

An excellent website-like the updates.please remember---with ANY DTD type vacuum-you may get a machine that was demoed in another prospects home. Most of the time if the machine has been shown more than twice-the dealer usually sells it at a discount price.

Buying new getting used

I have seen some horror story's on the internet and come accross some bad ones here at home with both Rainbow and Kirby, sales men trying to sell you a special deal on one a freind has for half the price and customers getting machines with rusty screws and dirt indide them.

If you look closly you can easily see if a machine has been used.If the sales man unpacks your new unit and demo's it for you before you have had a chance to check it out then thats a sure sign that its been used and he doesn't want you to find out

Its a pitty that good products are often let down by the people who sell them

We had a Rainbow demo the other night, and they were about to leave the obviously used machine for us. I wasn't exactly impressed by that. Otherwise, I loved the new machine!
