I went to an auction in Richmond, In to find a Kenmore canister vacuum, but it wasn't there, in its place was an Electro-Hygene. It was pretty dirty, but I cleaned it up and Its not bad looking!

Wow, that's a great find!  And all the attachments are there too.  Those things have lots of power and they're built.......like a tank!

I have the same machine. Its retro-looking design is wonderfully "over-the-top." Mine has a cord winder.

I don't plan on keeping it, I have it on ebay, I just don't have the room right now. I have So many vacuums in my bedroom second bedroom and in the dining room. I have 3 on ebay now. I have some that I will never get rid of. Thats my G.E.'s and my signatures. I also picked up a Filter Queen today too.

Dang Ben!
I would paid cash money for that blue Hygiene and driven down to Greencastle to pick it up in person on my way to the Convention.

Oh well, maybe I'll win your auction and do that anyway.

That green GE is tempting, too.

@massagemiracle
What are the model # and serial #s off of this Electro-Hygiene canister? Example: Model 401, Serial 401-1515 or 17A-C-11415 (17A = January 1971).

Thank you,

Ben Edge (KirbyClassicIII)

It looks like the hose is in the wrong end of the Electro Hygene!

Interesting they designed it like that. Usually one associates the smooth bullet nose as the front, or inlet.

But then again Compact did the same thing on their machines. :)

Royal's mainstream version of this canister was the model 931, which replaced the 901 in 1966. Likewise, before the 966 Electro-Hygiene had the 950.

Both the 931 and the 966 were discontinued by 1980.
