Snagged a running green Super Sweep at the local St Vincent - 5 bucks. She runs, but has the 'growl of death' as she winds down upon turning off. (well, did on my first try or 2, but not on the next 5 or 6) I've searched the forum, and found note of the motor being the same as a Kirby 500 (?). So, are the motor bearings available? Reasonable to replace?

I'm thinking of putting it to use at my wifes little antique mall, and so also wonder if there is an available belt? (doesn't need one yet, but...)

Thanks, Joe

The parts from kirbys standard models will work on the super sweeper.

:).

Would like to see a picture. These green super sweepers are uncommon.

The Super-Sweeps use 18" brushrolls which is not a common size for a mainstream Kirby vacuum, hence the fact they're NLA from Kirby. Same thing goes for the later American Lincoln SuperVac 180 model.

Here's photo-stuffs :)

So the belt is a flat one - part number for it?
Or bearings?
Or maybe, if someone really wants it, I should sell it, and buy something newer for the store...

Backside. There is a small tear in the outer bag - otherwise, just 'standard' wear.

Wonder if an 18" roller brush from a Royal wide sweep could fit or be modified to fit the Kirby machine.

Interesting thought. Maybe it could.

A local vacuum shop did have a few super sweeper brush rolls but I do believe my friend bought them all for his 18" Kirby vacuums. He has several.

That's a nice looking example of a super sweeper. They are rare enough that it may be safe to say don't wear it out too much. ;)

I admit that changing the belt in my Super Vac was a pain in the arse, but worth it. I really like mine. I just wish I had a better brush roller and white bag guard and bag top cover. That's easy enough to do and I will get to it... one of these years.
--Goldenvoice-- If you choose to sell your Super Sweeper let us know, I know I will be bidding on it.
