I have two Hoover Convertibles the (U4005 and U4007) whose handles will not stay up. Just wanted to know if there is a quick fix? or is the handle release just worn out. I imagine that this is a common problem.

Is the spring on the release lever broken, stretched out or fallen off?  I would think that should be an easy fix since it's a pretty simple design.

it happens to a lot of them.

A well-know Vac shop in Scranton told me to "file"  the little metal curve.  It wears down, leaving no grip for the pin.  It works,  without having to replace the entire part.

Thanks, John. I know that has to be the problem. There is no catch for the handle to stay in the upright position, so it just flops down. I'll try that.
