I have a question regarding the upright Royal Vacuums, the all metal ones that look like Kirbys. I was told that they are good vacuums to use when pre vacuuming carpets prior to having the carpets cleaned. Are they as good as a Kirby or are they better?

They're both AWESOME vacs! If you take, say, a 1975 Royal and put it up against a Kirby of the same year, (Classic O), I think it would be an even tie, the Kirby MIGHT win. I would say a new Kirby could beat a new Royal. Darn TTI!

The Metal Royal vacuums are very good vacuums. They too have very good air flow. They are also very durable vacuums.

The royal has a good advantage of a smaller nozzle. But the downside is they don't quite deep clean as well as a Kirby. They are also louder than kirby vacuums of the same era.

I do have to say they are far easier to maneuver than any Kirby. Even g series machines.
