Behold the lovely Electrolux Super J which arrived on my doorstep this afternoon, from Capital Vacuums in Albany, New York.

This came complete with original hose and PN-4 with a brand new brushroll installed. The machine also comes with a one-year motor warranty on both the vacuum and the power nozzle.

This is the same machine my dad bought my mom back in April of 1977 (for $377 including sales tax). We used the Super J until around 1985 (when my mom got her new Miele s230i), but the vacuum remained in the family until the early '90s (since I would use it upstairs to vacuum my room).

This machine truly has amazing suction. You can also tell by looking at the underside of the PN that it was designed specifically for shag carpet. Here is a picture of it:

Nice! Clean 'er up and repost some pics. The PN looks like it's built to take on mountains of dirt from serious carpets.;-)

This machine...

is truly a joy to vacuum with. The PN-4 is so easy to pass over the carpet. The hose that it came with does leak, but, fortunately, I already had a vinyl hose on hand to use in its place. You can tell by looking at the PN-4's underside that it was designed for shag (deep pile) carpet. (The PN-2, which looks very similar, was more designed for low-pile carpet, as was the PN-1).

Even though the Super J had a more powerful motor than its similar predecessors (the 1205 and the Golden J), it still purrs like a kitten. I really do love this vacuum cleaner...it's among my favorite Luxes!
