Hello, everyone. May I ask anyone who owns or has used a Miracle Mate Platinum to review it here for me. It looks like a pretty impressive vacuum. Thanks!

I bought the Mark I model two months ago today. It's not the most powerful canister I've used but it is very high up on the list. It has the same design as a Compact/Tristar, so it doesn't loose suction. In fact, it seems to gain suction as the bag fills, but it might just be me. I don't know about the Platinum, but the Mark I is made of some sort of metal. Although heavy, it is very durable. I know both machines use Ametek motors. The Mark I runs at 10.6 AMPS without the power nozzle.

The Lindhaus power nozzle, more commonly know as the Stealth for central vacs, is a disappointment. It has a huge air-channel and is very flat, so you can get under beds easily. But it has a one-row chevron brush roll. It picks up surface dirt fine but I question it's deep cleaning. After using the brush for one-and-a-half-months, I vacuumed with my Hoover Concept and filled the large A bag about one-sixth. After vacuuming with the Lindhaus, the carpet does not seem fluffed or the pile lifted. If you had plush carpet I would not recommend. It seems extremely durable though, and has a computer shut off if something gets caught in the roller. I doubt many of them have failed. I know that MD Manufacturing, a large central vac company who rebrands the Lindhaus as the Stealth, once had a warranty on the belt for 5 years, but then raised it to a lifetime warranty! That is a durable belt!

I have seem Platinum models with the Lindhuas nozzle, some huge one called the Edgelift, and the larger Sebo power nozzle. I've heard many problems about the Edgelift, and is no longer sold by anybody, so I would stay away from that one.

If you can live with drawing 12amps to vacuum, and buying bags online, The Miracle Mate is a reasonable vacuum. There are better canisters, and cheaper uprights that do the job much better, but overall it is a vacuum worth looking in to.

The new Miracle Mates have a ton of suction...you just have to actually use Miracle Mate bags. If not the machine will leak air at the bag and reduce air flow (stay away from Tri-Star bags). The machine is a little heavy; it’s made of aluminum alloy. The machine is a tank!!! One of the better built machines out there. The cord is a little short at only 20 feet, but the cord winder is a nice feature and well built.

Now the power head and hoses are the biggest difference. MM started with the SEBO power nozzle, big and bulky and they had a pistol grip handle not great cause it didn't swivel at the handle (they still sell it with this in Canada). The Lindhaus power head was junk in my opinion and it still had the pistol grip hose witch look like it belonged back in 1990. They used the Lindhaus for a few years earlier this decade. MM started to use the Edge lift in 2004 (i think) and yes there have been problems with this power head. The biggest was the elbow that the wand connects too; they were weak and would break after a while. They have since changed the elbow on it and made it MUCH stronger (the new ones are black not white that’s how to tell the difference), and have been available for over a year and has not had the same problems. It’s really a great power head, very versatile (Cleaning different carpets and all kinds of hard surface floors). The edge cleaning is better then any other power head I have seen, great airflow through the power head. It also has a gear driven belt much like the SEBO and the Wessel-Werk power heads. They now use a super flex hose which is great with a gas pump handle, same as new Patriot vacs and some central vacs.

The MM also has a great filtration system has a dual layer paper bag and a cloth bag just like all Air-Flow machines (Patriot, Airstorm, Vortech, TriStar). Has a HEPA motor filter and a charcoal and foam filters on the exhaust. And they use an Ametek motor. They are great cleaning machines and like every vac they have positives and negatives. Of course I'm a little biased since I’m a MM distributor. HAHA But serious I've been a vacuum distributor for 15 years mostly Patriot and now Miracle Mate. And of the so called TriStar type machines (the air over the dirt and though it) it has the most suction. But it’s also is the heaviest of the Patriot, Vortech and TriStar. It has some great features and if you looking for a great canister, it’s worth looking into.

Miracle Mate Platinum

Here is my Miracle Mate Platinum . I love the machine as I have owned it for about 3 years . I love the Edge lift power nozzle and in my opinion I feel it out cleans all power nozzles . I will be getting the New Rainbow E series Black next week so I will have to put its power nozzle to the test .

The Miracle Mate is heavy made from aluminium alloy which makes it very solid vacuum and very Tank like .
The entire die cast metal body of the Miracle Mate and all other die-cast metal parts are protected with a 30 Year Limited Warranty.

3 Years
All parts (other than die-cast and standard accessories of the Miracle Mate) are protected with a 3 Year Limited Warranty.

Fire Warranty
If your Miracle Mate is destroyed by residential fire, it will be replaced by Miracle Mate without charge, upon verification from the Fire Department.

It is a real deep cleaner I feel it out cleans my TriStar MG2 which is lighter.
It filters really well and the bags are the best of this style machine as there is no mess with the bag change . It enters in better and makes for excellent airflow which equals superb pick up.

I have the edge lift power nozzle and love the deep cleaning and best edge cleaning.I have not had a problem with the edge lift and I use mine regurally in the mix of daily and weekly drivers.

The cord is short and the winder is a toss up , it works without a problem but ads weight . Gas pump crush proof hose is perfect. Attachments work great with the airflow.

I also have the Lindhaus power nozzle and old style hose and do not care for it . I have a very plush Frieze / California shag and it always shuts off as if something was caught into it .

As with all Quality D2D vacuums this one is tops in my book as I own every D2D model made. I really love the high end machines and they are what I love to collect. My Favorite being gee I wonder which brand it might be : ) ?

I have a MM Platinum I bough several yearsago-the vacuum is powerful-seems more so than any other vertical bag canister.I always have preferred uprights (Kirby Royal metal) over ANY powernozzle.mine has the "Edgelift" nozzle. Its a good nozzle-lots of airflow.I would love to see a Filtrete bag for the MM.sometimes their paper bags can leak a little dirt.Filtrete ones don't do that-and you can PACK a Filtrete bag.So they last longer and can be Cheaper to use.The long body and short cord can be a disadvantage. The filters on the machine body need to be redisgned.Use one large filter.

Verdict?

sleepdoc's profile picture
So, is the verdict to avoid it or buy it? Pick a particular PN over another? I'm looking at two different ebay auctions now. One has the pistol-grip hose, and one has the gas-pump hose, with their respective PN's. The vacuum seems like an amazing machine, but I want the best accessories if I'm going to have one at all.

The Miracle Mate is not a vacuum to avoid, but in my opinion you should look at all your options. I would never spend more than $150 on a Miracle Mate, and only if you must have one. An older Tristar, one before Aerus bought them, would be much cheaper for an extremely similar machine. The Miracle Mate is just like a mid-range Riccar: A Riccar is a sightly better Panasonic with a much higher price. The Miracle Mate is a Comacpt/Tristar with current features. I don't think it's worth the extra price.

See if you find anything better or wait for a good deal. I will let the others pick out a power-nozzle; I'm new to that market.

the Edge Lift power nozzle . You can`t go wrong as it out cleans the Lindhaus and the Sebo power nozzle. I have seen the newer ones on eBay so you might want to wait if you think the first edge lift might be a problem . I have had "0" issues with mine . I love it and you will too >

Miracle mate

I have a platinum that I like, but I agree that the performance is not that different than my Tristar DXL.and the Tristar is lighter and easier to maneuver, also my Tristar's motor has a softer sound than the miracle mate.I run a eureka rotomatic vibra groomer power nozzle that performs very well on short pile carpet.Any way that's my opinion.

Miracle Mate,Patriot, Tristar DXL

If you are a collector all three of these machines are cool to have, however if you are looking for a good canister vacuum I would have to vote for a good used Tristar CXL or DXL. Those are the machines I most prefer to vacuum with if I use a canister.

miracle mate in box.

I saw your post on here about the miracle mate vacuum. I have a few that I am trying to sell. I have one pretty much new in the box, and a few demo models. I used to buy machines back from the finance company and sell them to local dealers in the area. I have about 5 of them, i also have filter queens with defenders, vortech forces, kirby sentrias, blueair max 2000's if you interested in purchasing please let me know.
