No one I know wants to hear my vacuum cleaner stories so of course I have to post it here!

Silly thing really -- I found a Kirby G5 at a Thrift yesterday for $19.75. Couldn't resist, even though I already have one in my collection. The only thing about it was the lower cord wrap hook was broken off. NO big deal, considering.

I just checked my other G5's lower hook. I thought "gee, I wonder if these are just cheap." I barely touched it and SNAP it broke right off. I've been trying to super glue the piece back on and it seems to be that resistent plastic that superglue doesn't work on.

The guy who sells the replacement back piece with the lower hook on it must be making a killing.

Also available, along with many other Kirby parts, from the reputable seller Kent Oyler on Ebay:

Definitely not that expensive...by "making a killing" I meant they are probably selling tons since they break so easily!

Any way, I thought it was funny that I believed my other G5 was nice and perfect. Then barely touching the part and now I have two identical G5's. ;)

I never had a problem with my G5's lower hook, I think it's just one of those "over time & rough treatment" things, even my G3 (still need to restore that) has it's hook in place and no signs of stress or cracks... :)

But yes, it wasn't a bright idea putting the hoock onto the same mould as the "money box" (that's what the slot's for, pick up change from the floor and pop it in the "money box") handle back, I preferred the older design they used since, oh, the beginning of the Kirby Company, up to the last LegendII... :)
