Cautious....

Does anyone know the seller? I received an email that the winning bidder closed his E-Bay account and if I would like the vacuum I can pay for it...Sounds kind of suspicious to me. The winning bidder has a 100% feedback and 225 comments/reviews. When I click on the winning bidders profile, it's accessible....hmmmm

Message from seller:
This is about the Hoover elite 400 you bid on. The leading bidder has closed his ebay account and cannot pay for the item. If your still interested, Let me know. The machine is brand new in a box. As stated, I opened the box to make sure there was a new unit in there, but the machine is brand new, in the factory plastic. Untouched. Brand New, Never run.

I noticed the seller has 85% feedback and 3 negative feedback in the last year one said he didnt make a sell and lied about it.

he has more than one to sell...and instead of listing another one on Ebay, he can offer back bidders a chance?

Just a thought.

That is suspicious. Maybe report him to eBay for doing that. Especially if you are fully able to gain access to the winning bidder's info.

Stay Away

It could be a returned vacuum that was defective. I worked for Hoover then, and this was often the case with an open box. Opened is indeed, suspicious. Be cautious about this. Unscrupulous sellers abound. I have had bad experiences on ebay, so caution is key. Ron

Thanks everyone...I'm staying away...I figured I would pick this up for my mom, since it's lightweight...not a huge need, more a want...so I'm passing for now...

Thanks again.

Ebay is the best thing since sliced bread

I happen to love eBay and have only gotten burned in the very begining but ebay and paypal have always refunded every cent . I have purchased many great Vacuums on ebay and have been able to find every model I have ever wanted and some I never even knew I wanted lol . Thanks to ebay my collection has grown from as many as 30 to over 200+ . I just purchased an Aerus Guardian upright current model brand new in the box at a savings of over $800.00 as compared to the dealers price. I have found numerous Hoover Elites and Convertibles brand new in the box as well as many other brands at drastic savings. Everything I need for my home , cars or work I first go to ebay before I shop at a store .I have even purchased 3 of the current cars I own on ebay and they went flawless and saved a ton compared to buying form a dealer. You must make sure the seller has as close to 100% feed back as in this case the person did not selling the NIB Hoover. If you have a problem and you use paypal they always refund every cent you have spent if someone trys to rip you off.

Bad News

I still say stay away. I would wait until someone unrelated sells one. It is odd to have something like this be handled on eaby in this way. Two likely related sellers selling this in the ways they have is troublesome.

storage locker auctions?

I suspect many of these salespersons buy a storage locker with unknown contents and turn around and liquidate on ebay. They know absolutely nothing about the history of the items.

I have no personal knowledge of this particular seller.
