Hi all,

It seems that after 5 years (in Oct) of having my Dyson DC16, the charger is the only part that is going to need to be replaced as I have had some sparking coming from the cord as it enters the plug. It appears that it has broken there, causing the sparking to happen. I guess the constant plugging and unplugging has taken its toll on the cable.

The machine has been fine and only required one battery change. This machine is used daily and still looks like its only a few months old.

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a cheap charger assembly from (Ebay must be excluded as I'm not a member)

A bit of hot glue in the gap in the wires will insulate them and stop them shorting, but that's only a temporary fix, you'll need to buy a new charger, which I'm sure you can get from the manufacturer's site...

You can order a replacement from Dyson's site (see link below). It may also be worth giving the helpline a call - there's a slim chance they may offer you a replacement, even out of the warranty period.
