I've read nothing but good things about this machine as well.......And yea.....What's up with the Rug Doctor tank not being removable? I'm sure now that Bissell has created this Rug Doctor will change that. What would be even BETTER is if it had smart mix for separate detergent and clean water so that you could rinse.

I also loved the brush-roll, it did a great job of lifting up the nap on the carpet |

The Rug Doctor's in the single unit form factor do not collect the dirty water in the lower tank. The fixed tank is for the clean water, which is drained out by the pump during use or through the hose if you attach it. You can choose to tip the machine over to dump it out if you prefer.
The dirt water is collected in the upper removable white tank. Speaking from experience and ownership :) Andrew |

Rick and I saw one of these in a vacuum shop in Bellville IL. They got rid of all the rental rug doctors and are now renting these because they seem to be so much better to ues with more suction and it has a brushroll rather than a brush that goes back and forth. I personally don't know anything about them but if a vac shop switches over to a Bissell then that must tell you something.
