I found this sad looking little machine in a mans shop probally a year ago it was Filthy, as you can see in the pic. Well I actually got it out of storage and cleaned it up and put a new bag in to see what would happen! well it works, but the poor thing has got some problems! The controls on the hose are not in the best shape but they do function. The bag light stays on all the time and when i plugged the hose into the blower it would not come on at all... Anyone got any pointers on what may be going on? maybe i just need a new hose for it... maybe its more than i want to deal with!?!?! If this was a Super J I would tear into it, but I think because of all the "bealls and whistles" it has intemidated me! LOL.

I can't advise as to the problems of the Renaissance (I'm merely a user and admirer), but its definitely the one later model Electrolux that I'd love to have in the collection. It stands out like nothing since the late 60's, I'd say.

The Rennaisance....

was problematic from the outset. The Guardian had a 25 yr warranty to give the salse force confidence in selling it.

I was branch manager from 1998 until 2002. When one of these babies came in the following parts were replaced just to make sure all the bases were covered and it could be fixed in one go.

Hose, wands, P/N elbow, light socket, circuit board. canister circuit board, switch, and cord winder. Not all were necessary in every case, but it was easier to replace it all, send the old parts to Bristol and make the customer happy. I doubt if Renny parts are available, but Stan at Aerus Electrolux on Shadeland Ave in Indianapolis, IN might be able to assist you.

Thank you! I am not sure what I am going to do with it. Its really in need of alot of parts / service. I still really prefer my Model G or Olymia!

The Model G and the Olympia...

are far superior to any of the plastic body Luxes. Look at the Perfect for example, a clone of the Olympia/Silverado.

I think a model G with a more powerful motor, finished in chrome with a chrome top P/N trimmed in red and black, with a cloth hose would be an awesome looking, performing, and selling machine.

Hey there.... I have the same exact problems with my Renny... the bag light is always on and the blower doesn't work sometimes (did you press all the buttons).... usually if I play with the hose connection and press all the buttons the blower will finally decide to work. I like to blow the debris from in front of my door rather than sweep it, but lately I've used the Diamond Jubilee or a Kirby because I didn't want to fool with the Renny.... I do love it though.... it's one of my favorite machines (especially one of my favorite canisters, though it can scarcely compete with the Miele). I think I remember that either the speed control buttons don't work with the blower, or they are what I have to press to make it work and the normal power nozzle button doesn't do it... maybe its the suction only button I have to press... there's something weird about it that defies logic.

Have fun with it anyway... I think as long as it turns on and run well, it's all good... the bag light thing really bothered me for a while, but I finally just "let it go" and stopped caring...

Part of this may be my fault since I accidentally sucked up water in it (dark bathroom floor, didn't realize until it was too late), but if those are the only problems it has after sucking up water (I didn't know if it had them before I did that stunt or not), I think that's great!

Renny Bag Light

is supposed to stay on. when the bag is full then the machine shuts off and the bag light blinks on and off. as for the hose on the blower you have to have the hose locked in tight and machine only comes on with the floor only(not carpet) button. as to the different speeds on the blower I don't remember if they work or only the high button works. My Gaurdian is exactly the same way.... Dan
