it has been a while since I posted something interesting so I figured I might as well this time.

for the past week I have been going to a house that was being cleaned out, the people who were cleaning it out from what I gathered was the realtor selling the house and the son of the person who owned the house. there was a HUGE dumpster outside of the house filled with all sorts of goodies however I could not get over the feeling that there was a vacuum cleaner about to be tosssed. well after 3 days of checking I finally went yesterday and right in front of me I saw a grey and black woven hose and knew what it was immediately, upon moving the recliner that was on top of this hose a box and my all time favorite cleaner the electrolux model 30 appeared, this machine was thrown away in the original box I immediately pulled it out and threw it in the van with out blinking an eye. although the box is badly beat up and torn I salvaged it anyway. inside the box was the cleaner, hose, wands, cord, 2 dusting brushes, crevice tool, floor brush and gleaner. seeing that there were 2 dusting brushes I am thinking that there is another machine but also this machine was hardly used as the sticker on the bottom of the machine is undisturbed, the fans on the machine are still shining and the chrome is flawless and to top it all off the hose is still airtight after all of these years pulling a full whopping 55".  I have a feeling that this person bought the machine, used it once and then put it in storage because this thing is extremely clean. well that is after wiping off about 2 inches of dust off of it.  sadly the rubber bumpers of the floor tool and gleaner are badly dry rotted and mostly gone, the most important thing though is that the hose is not stiff and is very air tight. im going to clean up the tools and give them a good polish this week.

enjoy the pics

What a wonderful prize, Mike, for following your instincts!

I suppose as folks get older hauling around a metal vacuum on skids does get tiresome but they can't bear to throw such a fine thing out. So it stays dust and abuse-free in the closet and they get used to a more lightweight plastic bodied vacuum cleaner.

All the better for the likes of us.

Dave

WOW, what a great find! That hose is, as my friend Kevin would say, "droolsome!"

Beautiful find!! I've always found it good to follow up on those nagging "feelings", they seldom lead you astray. LOL

thank you all for the wonderful compliments, I am starting to want this machine to become my daily driver, I also just noticed how much this was not used as the runners dont have as much as a scratch on them as well as the gleaner, and the floor brush still has full length bristle. this machine is definately a keeper and I dont think I will ever get rid of it.

If you really intend to use this as your daily driver, I strongly urge you to get a secondary hose. If you use that beautiful original hose on a daily basis it will quickly become ruined.
